One of my favorite things to do growing up in Carlsbad was to go down to the multicolored donut shop in our small "downtown" area in the early mornings. I love the memories of being a kid and standing in front of the glass with a whole selection to choose from. Choosing from the glass was way better than looking at any old menu. Your options are visible and fresh. After the donuts would go into the pink box we would head down to the beach.
During the summer we spent many Saturday mornings doing just this. We would load everyone up, including our dog, and head down the street to VG's and on to the beach! I love keeping traditions alive, even if they are as simple as eating donuts on the beach.
